Substitution Philosophy

Chemcials is a part of fashion. But we need to use it in a safe and clewer way.
Banned and hazardous substances shall be avoided in products and in the production protecting people and environment. The interaction between product and the productionmethod is very much connected, as both employees in the production and end users can be exposed to the chemicals selected.

We see testing and certificates as one way of controlling content of chemicals in our products and the production. But also expensive and not too safe way.

Our philosophy (Substitution Philosophy) is to select another way as we try to substitute dangerous chemicals from the very beginning. We want to combine the safety of the product and reduced use of test, as we are convinced that this way is much easier to control.

In combination to the Substitution Philosophy we make random test of the products. Our priority is to thrust our partners and help to guide new suppliers/qualities rather that test all products already known and documented once. Today we only in very rare cases discover problems with chemicals exceeding limits. Trying to reduce the expenses and need for testing we can also offer to set up a test program controlling every 20 or 30 orderline.

Practical examples of our Substitution Philosophy:

A)    If AZO dyes are not used as pigments in the dying process, it is not necessary to test for appearance in the final garment.

B)    Pesticides are not used when raising animals and it is not possible to detect in leather, so why test for pesticides in leather?!
